TUMBLEWEEDS

Inspired by the empty and deteriorating houses of the NOBO district in Columbus, OH, these Tumbleweeds consisted not of dusty organic matter, but the supremely ubiquitous urban material cardboard and reflected the abandoned and neglected spaces they occupied. Each cardboard element rolled into the Tumbleweed is modeled directly from the specific architecture of the neighborhood. Bits of windows and doors were recreated in degradable cardboard, cobbled together into a roll-able, decomposable ball, free to move about the space, travel where they willed and decay over time.
